Hounsfield board authorizes Barton & Loguidice to begin flushing plan, hears water and sewer project updates

Town engineering consultant Barton & Loguidice provided updates on the town’s water and sewer projects at the June 11 meeting. Taylor Jennings of Barton & Loguidice reported that fluoride injection building drawings for the Old Rome State Road water main were submitted to the New York State Department of Health in June and that bidding is planned for June–July 2025. The consultant also reported ongoing water meter replacements and diagnostics and said Sewer District #1 easement coordination is underway with construction planned from May through November 2025; Jennings said multiple properties have asked about tying into the sewer.
Deputy Supervisor John LaDuc moved and Councilwoman Dawn Nier seconded a board motion to allow Barton & Loguidice to initiate a Comprehensive Flushing Plan and system modeling required by NYSDOH and EPA; the plan and modeling are to be completed by September 1, 2025. The motion carried on an 'All ayes' vote. The minutes also record that Comptroller approval for Water Service Area #8 remains pending and that the board is awaiting correspondence from the Comptroller.
