Council authorizes purchase of new AV equipment to fix meeting sound problems

Chattahoochee Hills council voted to authorize the purchase of audio equipment from Anuvo to upgrade the council-chamber AV system, estimating the cost at roughly $38,009 and explaining that the microphones in use are fixed-frequency models that produce distortion and popping.
City Manager Robbie Rockewitz told the council the proposed microphones will permit frequency changes to eliminate interference and improve clarity for hybrid or recorded meetings. "It's basically that these microphones we're currently using are fixed frequency, and the new microphone's gonna provide frequency that we can change as needed, in order to eliminate the distortion and the popping," Rockewitz said.
Staff outlined two procurement paths: piggyback on an existing contract used by another city or proceed through the city procurement process. The city expects to place the order if council votes in favor and to receive equipment in weeks; replacement installation timing will depend on contractor availability.
Council approved the authorization as part of regular agenda action. Members said they look forward to clearer audio during meetings and thanked staff for pursuing an expedited solution.
