Council names CVB and conservancy appointees, backs 'Bird City Georgia' designation

Council approved a resolution filling nine seats on the Convention & Visitors Bureau and confirmed a mayoral appointment to the Chattahoochee Hills Country Conservancy at its Feb. 10 meeting. The measures were grouped under agenda items 26-008 and 26-009 and passed with no recorded opposition.
City Manager Robbie Rockewitz read the list of appointees and asked those present to stand; councilmembers thanked outgoing volunteers for their service. The mayor also announced Rodney Peek as the city’s appointee to the Chattahoochee Hills Country Conservancy board.
Separately, the council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the city’s designation as a 'Bird City Georgia' community. Economic Development staff described recent invasive-species removal and indigenous planting work at city parks as part of the rationale for the designation.
Councilmembers praised volunteers and staff for conservation and tourism efforts and noted the appointments will support visitor marketing and stewardship activities.
