Summary

The Chattahoochee Hills City Council voted to approve a zoning reversion for a 1.1-acre parcel on Watkins Road, moving the parcel from HM (Hamlet) mixed use back to RL (Rural). The measure came before the council as agenda item 26-006 and passed with no recorded opposition.
Mike Morton, community development director, explained that the parcel had been categorized as Hamlet because of a deed error and that the owner(s) had requested that the city sponsor the reversion rather than requiring a formal application from the owners. "This was the reason I'm actually Hamlet, based on an error in a deed," Morton said in explaining the background.
A nearby neighbor who spoke with a council member indicated support for the change, and the council called for a vote after limited discussion. The motion carried unanimously on the record. The change will be reflected in the city's zoning records and is scheduled for placement in the next planning packet as applicable.
