The Town of Hounsfield on Jan. 14 accepted a $2,068,900 bid from JL Excavation for Contract #3, the Old Rome State Road water main project, and scheduled a public hearing on Water Service Area #8.
Councilwoman Dawn Nier moved to accept the bid and Councilwoman Courtney Brown seconded; the board adopted Resolution and Order #2 of 2026 to set the hearing. The roll call vote on the resolution was recorded as: Councilwoman Dawn Nier — YES; Councilman Chris Lee — YES; Councilwoman Courtney Brown — YES; Supervisor Beth Arthur — YES; Councilman Jake Ledoux — absent. "A motion was made by Councilwoman Nier and seconded by Councilwoman Courtney Brown to accept the bid from JL Excavation in the amount of $2,068,900.00, for Contract # 3 Old Rome State Rd," the minutes state.
Taylor Jennings of Barton & Loguidice presented project updates that accompanied the action, including a note that Sewer District #1 construction is roughly 95% complete and that the NYSDOT pipe bridge is required before main line completion. The board adopted the public-hearing resolution to allow for additional public input on Water Service Area #8 prior to any expansion of water service boundaries.
