The Town of Hounsfield adjusted recycling center hours and reported staffing changes at its Sept. 10 meeting. The board adopted new hours: Wednesdays from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM after a summer data-collection effort found busiest activity between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Staffing changes were discussed: one employee will return to school but continue Saturday shifts; another employee will leave mid‑October to join the Army. After that departure, the department will be staffed by three employees on a staggered schedule to ensure Saturdays, the busiest day, are fully covered. The front section of the recycling area has been paved.
