Engineering update: Old Rome water main, Sewer District #1 and Water Service Area #8 timelines clarified

Taylor Jennings of engineering consultant Barton & Loguidice updated the Town Board about multiple infrastructure projects at the Sept. 10 meeting.
On the Old Rome State Road water-main project, the consultant said fluoride injection building drawings have been submitted to the New York State Department of Health and that bidding is expected in September–October 2025; easement work for the fluoride building location is scheduled August–October. Jennings also reported ongoing water-meter replacements and diagnostic work to resolve remaining system issues.
Sewer District #1 is reported to be making construction progress: approximately 90% of rock has been sawed through, about 3,000 linear feet of mainline has been installed, and pump station structures have been set. For Water Service Area #8, Barton & Loguidice said the Comptroller’s approval is still pending and asked that changes be summarized in a single document; construction was described as slated to start in late 2026 or 2027. The firm also noted that a Comprehensive Flushing Plan had been submitted and approved by EPA/NYSDOH and that August sampling showed the town is back in compliance for total trihalomethanes (TTHM).
