Brackett High honored after jump in state accountability ratings

Board members and administrators recognized Brackett High School on Sept. 11 after the campus posted a substantial improvement in state accountability ratings.
Staff member (S2) told the board that only about 14% of Texas schools received the top rating and that Brackett High showed a nine‑point year‑over‑year gain and major improvements in college‑, career‑and‑military‑readiness measures. "So to be in the top 14% is truly an accomplishment," S2 said, crediting core, elective and special‑education teachers for the gains.
The presentation highlighted domain‑level performance: Brackett High earned high marks across student achievement, school progress and closing‑the‑gap measures; the district noted the high school’s student achievement score rose from 77 to 91 and the closing‑the‑gap score from 73 to 92. Administrators on site (named during the meeting as Mr. Jimenez, Mrs. Harris and Ms. Welch) were invited forward to accept recognition.
Board members said the results reflect systemwide efforts to support students beyond STAAR tests, including certificates and other CCMR indicators. The district will continue to monitor results and report midyear growth measures to the board.
