Hemet swears in 11 students to new Youth Council

The Hemet City Council on Aug. 11 appointed 11 young residents to the newly formed Hemet Youth Council and administered the oath of office to each appointee.
City Clerk read the background of a recruitment campaign that produced 34 applications and 29 interviews; an ad hoc committee recommended the following 11 candidates for one‑year terms expiring June 30, 2027: Andrew Ballard, Jada Bass, Kasaya Cherland, Freya Ewalt, Madeline Gurola, Isabella Harrott, Hannah McKnight, Erin Nash, Ava Sandoval, Isaac Suarez and Miguel Trejo. "Youth council members will serve a one‑year term expiring on 06/30/2027," staff said in the report and then administered the oath.
Mayor Linda Krupa congratulated the appointees and encouraged their families to remain for the meeting, saying the city looks forward to youth reports and ideas on how to better serve young people. Council members praised applicants’ resumes and parents’ support. The council set the Youth Council's first meeting for 5 p.m. next Monday at the Hemet Library and invited the public to attend.
