Board hears timeline for Teacher Incentive Allotment plan and TEA approval

District leaders said stakeholder groups are shaping a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) plan that TEA must approve; the plan will set observation weighting, student-growth measures and later spending once designations are determined.
An Administrator told trustees the district is developing a Teacher Incentive Allotment plan with teacher and stakeholder input and will submit the plan to the Texas Education Agency for approval. "These stakeholders have met to decide how we're gonna weigh different things and, of course, all of this with guidance from...because the plan has to be approved by TEA," the Administrator said.
The presentation outlined the multi-year timeline for designation, data collection and payout: year 1 is planning and submission to TEA, year 2 (2627) focuses on data collection, year 3 on validation and reporting, and year 4 on payouts to eligible teachers. The board was told the estimated annual allotment figures are subject to change because TEA bases allocations on counts of economically disadvantaged students.
