Highway superintendent reports road repairs, new loader delivery and surplus equipment sales

Highway Supervisor Alan Crooker reported road checks after heavy winds, pothole repairs using two 4-ton loads of hot asphalt, grading with two loads of item 4 gravel on Knowles Road, ditch cleaning and shoulder grading on multiple roads, installation and replacement of driveway pipes, and ongoing roadside mowing and tree trimming. He noted the new John Deere loader was delivered on 05/19/26 and that the main boom cylinders on the excavator have been repaired.
Crooker said the Highway Department listed several surplus items on Auctions International; minutes record sales including a 2001 Autocar 10-wheel dump truck for $8,100, a 2022 Chevy pick-up truck box (wrecked) for $210, and two military boxes for $490. The 2017 Hyundai loader did not meet the reserve and remains unsold. Crooker also confirmed the existing permit to clean the creek at the bottom of Green Hill Road is valid through 2028.
