The package included a set of targeted investments offered as amendments: $500,000 for neighborhood outreach in North Beacon Hill and North Rainier (amendment A), funds for transit and safety pilots, and a one-time $300,000 allocation to fund community-based services for transgender people facing internal displacement.
Council member Strauss, sponsor of the finance committee report, noted the package supports universal school meals and the city’s response to recent service needs. Council member Rink described the $300,000 allocation as a limited but necessary step to help organizations provide housing, food and case management to people arriving from other states.
The supplemental and the companion grant-acceptance ordinance passed by unanimous roll calls; Council also adopted several district-targeted amendments during floor consideration.
