Seattle Council honors Susan Hahn with city proclamation as she retires from Seattle Channel

Council member Rink presented a proclamation on Aug. 11 declaring the day Susan Hahn Appreciation Day, praising Hahn’s decades in broadcast journalism and her nearly two decades at Seattle Channel.
"Whereas Susan Hahn, a senior producer at the Seattle Channel since 2007, has retired after an inspiring award winning career," Rink read as part of the proclamation recognizing Hahn’s work producing public-affairs programming and more than 250 episodes of City Inside Out.
Shannon Gee, general manager of Seattle Channel, spoke after the proclamation and thanked Hahn "for her years of service, your tireless community building, and your dedication to upholding media integrity and informing our city." Brian Callanan and other longtime colleagues also praised Hahn’s editorial rigor and commitment to civil civic conversations.
Susan Hahn addressed the council, saying that her goal "has simply been to be fair, thorough, and balanced. Journalistic integrity is my North Star," and thanked colleagues, family and the City for the recognition.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo and brief remarks about Hahn’s career, including her work across local public‑affairs shows and contributions to amplifying diverse community voices.
