Ed Reese, president of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments and vice mayor of Claremont, briefed the San Dimas City Council on the COG’s work connecting 31 member cities, two supervisorial districts and local agencies to advance transportation, housing, wildfire planning and sustainability.
Reese highlighted the construction authority that delivers grade separation projects and described Measure M funding the COG directed last year: "$36,500,000 to 17 San Gabriel Valley agencies for projects that make it easier and safer for people to get where they need to go," he said. He also cited the COG’s role in helping implement SB 1383 food‑waste rules by improving business compliance and supporting food banks with refrigeration equipment.
Reese presented San Dimas with a 2025 SGV COG Energy Champion silver award and invited council and residents to participate in his I Heart SGV program to increase regional identity and engagement. He encouraged local officials to engage with COG policy committees and staff on capital projects and planning, and he offered to answer questions about specific partnership opportunities.
Council thanked Reese for the presentation and accepted the award; Reese left pins and a plaque for the city clerk to distribute.
