Clifton ISD board votes not to adopt SB 11 resolution on prayer and Bible reading

Superintendent Andy Ball reopened a prior discussion of Senate Bill 11 and told trustees the district already allows prayer and reading of religious texts on Clifton ISD campuses. Ball recommended not passing a resolution that would revise district policies FNA(LOCAL) and DGA(LOCAL), arguing "passing the Resolution would not enhance any freedoms that CISD students and staff currently have but would, in fact, be more restrictive."
Following the discussion, the board voted to not adopt the resolution on a motion by Josh Ritzmann, seconded by Steve Conrad; the vote was recorded as 6-0 with one absence. No policy changes were adopted as part of the motion.
