Town backs $1.608 million DEC water-quality grant application for Sewer District 1

The Town Board voted to authorize the Town Supervisor to submit an application for $1,608,000 in grant funds from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Water Quality Improvement Projects program to replace the deteriorated wastewater collection system in Sewer District 1.
The resolution states the work would reduce high wet-weather flows, lower system operation and maintenance costs, and restore capacity for future residential and commercial growth. Board members said the Preliminary Engineering Report will guide the selection of replacements and that grant funding would reduce construction costs for Sewer District customers if awarded. The motion carried 5–0.
