Town approves $5,000 climate assessment and seeks $1.72 million for Setting Pole Dam repairs

According to the resolution, the assessment will evaluate anticipated changes in rainfall and river flows near Tupper Lake over the next century and provide planning information intended to improve the dam’s resilience and support the CSC grant submission. Councilwoman Crystal Boucher moved the resolution, which the board approved unanimously.
Separately, the board passed a resolution authorizing submission of a Consolidated Funding Application for $1,723,964.38 to repair and rehabilitate the Setting Pole Dam. The resolution certifies a 20% local match of $430,991.09 and names Town Supervisor Rick Dattola as the Town’s authorized representative for the application. Council members noted the match requirement and said they would plan for the local funding obligation if the grant is awarded.
