Alamo commission authorizes contract with Gerlach Builders for new Public Safety Building

The City of Alamo commission voted to authorize the city manager to enter a construction contract with Gerlach Builders for the planned Alamo Public Safety Building.
Staff member (speaker 13) told the commission that Gerlach was the selected contractor and that pricing discussions and value-engineering would be used to finalize scope and cost. "We're recommending, approval to authorize the the city manager, myself, to enter into a contract between the City of Alamo and Gerlach Builders, for the construction of the Alamo Public Safety Building," staff said. The commission approved the motion by voice vote.
A separate agenda item amended the professional-services agreement with International Consulting Engineers (ICE) and added supplemental BIM/4D modeling services (EDCON) to provide construction-phase administration and visualization. Staff said the construction-phase services fee would be approximately $390,920 (about 4% of current construction costs), plus $60,000 for modeling and visualization work.
Commissioners asked that project coordination include regular progress meetings and confirmation that the project team will work together to avoid the kinds of issues raised earlier in the wastewater workshop. Staff said project administration will be funneled through city administration and the consultants.
