Owner seeks to legalize generator, AC units and shed at Edgemere Drive; neighbor cites septic and space constraints
Summary
At 148 Edgemere Drive the owner asked the ZBA to legalize a generator and AC units installed without permits and to avoid relocating a shed claimed to conflict with a newly installed septic system. The board asked for the drainfield to be shown on the survey and for written justification; hearing held open for written comments to Aug. 21.

The board considered the Atlas and Greenwald application for 148 Edgemere Drive, where the owner is seeking to legalize a generator and two air‑conditioning units installed without prior building permits and to resolve the location of a shed shown on the parcel survey. Applicant counsel said a prior variance and the small, narrow lot constrained relocation options and that a new septic drainfield now occupies the only feasible conforming area.
Homeowner Alice M. Greenwald told the board, "We complied with Southampton Township requirements... the new septic drainage field ... is under the area of the property ... it can no longer be there because that is where the only place that the shed could be relocated to." The board asked the applicant to show the septic/drainfield location on the survey and to submit written justification and supporting documentation from the septic installer; it held the hearing open for written comments (due Aug. 21) with a decision scheduled for Sept. 3.
Board members also requested noise‑mitigation details for the generator and asked the applicant to confirm whether hedgerows, walls or other screening are properly located and maintained. The board conditioned that any legalization be accompanied by documentation and by relocation or removal of structures if a conforming location can be demonstrated.
