Coffee City EDC delays fire department event funding pending budget review; explores solar lights and welcome sign process

At its Feb. 10 meeting the Coffee City council received the Economic Development Corporation report from Vicki Castleberry, who said the EDC deferred a fire department event funding request pending review of the department's budget and prior uses of funds.
Vicki Castleberry also said the EDC is investigating installing solar lights at the corner lot and has invited a TxDOT representative to its next meeting to explain the step-by-step process for placing a welcome sign. The EDC review was procedural and no city appropriation was approved at the council meeting.
The EDC action keeps the funding request on hold until budget details are provided and moves forward with informational outreach regarding signage and lighting options.
