Coffee City Council approves April financials and meeting minutes; city secretary explains timing of court deposits
Summary
The council approved April 2025 financials and April 14 meeting minutes May 12. City Secretary Mary McDonald explained that court collections are recorded when received while the profit-and-loss shows bank deposits, so late-month online payments may appear in different periods.

The Coffee City Council voted May 12 to approve the city's April 2025 financial statements and the April 14 council meeting minutes. Kevin Haughey moved to approve the financials and minutes; Jeff Blackstone seconded and the motion carried.
City Secretary Mary McDonald explained the discrepancy between two internal reports: "the court spreadsheet listed what was collected that month but the profit and loss sheet only shows what was deposited in the bank for the month." She noted that more than $1,000 was paid online on the last day of the month and was not deposited until the following banking day, so it does not appear on the profit-and-loss for April.
