Cedar Park council adopts 2024 parks and open-space master plan

The Cedar Park City Council voted 7-0 Nov. 14 to adopt the city’s 2024 Parks, Recreation, Facilities and Open Space Master Plan. Parks and Recreation Director Mike DeVito and consultant Teresa Jackson of BerryDunn presented amendments made after an Oct. 24 work session, including revisions related to pickleball courts and increases in project cost estimates.
Councilmember Heather Jefts moved to adopt the plan; Councilmember Kevin Harris seconded the motion. The resolution passed unanimously as “A Resolution Adopting The 2024 Parks, Recreation, Facilities, And Open Space Master Plan.” Council discussion focused on public engagement used to shape the plan and on updated project estimates for recreational improvements. DeVito said the revisions reflect community feedback and refined cost forecasting.
Adoption means the plan will guide parks and capital projects moving forward, though individual projects will return to council for budget approvals. The council approved the resolution as R025.24.11.14.H1.
