City reports boat ramp progress, first state reimbursement and abatement at 917 Grove

City Administrator Mike Kramm told council members on May 5 that the city received its first reimbursement from the state for the boat ramp project. "Cheryl received the first reimbursement from the State for the boat ramp project," the minutes record. The report also noted that pilings are installed and piers are being built; surface preparation of the parking lot is underway.
Kramm also reported actions taken at an abandoned property, saying the house at 917 Grove "has been boarded up, the dilapidated fence has been removed, and the grass has been mowed. We will file a lien on the property for the expenses and continue with more abatement efforts as necessary." The minutes record a payment of $5,250 received from an insurance company for east parking lot damage repairs.
Kramm thanked Police Department staff for participating in disaster-damage assessment training and noted that the department has assisted with assessment tasks that larger cities usually assign to building or code enforcement personnel.
