Board approves Hutchison Engineering agreement for South Diamond road project

Trustees approved an engineering agreement with Hutchison Engineering for the South Diamond roadway project, which will include milling, new curbing and gutter, and storm sewer work along South Diamond from Michigan to Greenwood.
Brian Borgman of Hutchison Engineering told the board IDOT is expected to hold the letting in April, with construction planned to start June 1 and finish in the fall. Borgman estimated the total project cost between $1.6 million and $1.7 million and said the village's out‑of‑pocket cost would be roughly $107,000, with most funding expected from STU, LPF and Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) sources. Hutchison was the sole firm to submit qualifications for the contract; IDOT will manage bids. Trustees approved the agreement by unanimous roll call.
The board asked staff to monitor the letting schedule and to coordinate any necessary local approvals and utility work before the start of construction.
