The Coffee City Council voted to approve the city’s February 2025 financial statements and the minutes from the Feb. 10 council meeting.
Councilmember Carrie Ousley moved to approve both the financials and minutes; Ollie Harmon seconded. Ruthie Seward abstained on the minutes (item 6) because she was not present at the Feb. 10 meeting; the motion carried. Mayor Marquis Castleberry noted vehicle-related expenses on the financials and said the entries concerned police vehicles. City Secretary Mary McDonald explained that, during freezing weather, a gentleman came by and checked fluids and ran each vehicle for at least 30 minutes a day, which contributed to recorded vehicle expenses. Councilmember Kevin Haughey asked whether listed repairs related to heating work in the fire department; Mary McDonald confirmed they did.
