The Coffee City Council voted April 14 to approve the city financial report for March 2025 and to adopt the minutes from its March 10 meeting. Councilmember Carrie Ousley moved to approve the financials and the minutes; Kevin Haughey seconded and the motion carried.
City Secretary Mary McDonald walked councilmembers through several line items under review, including a one-time Office Depot purchase for office supplies and repair expenses for city hall lighting and a front-door knob. Council members pressed staff for clarifications about recurring charges and utility bills during the discussion. "The majority of the cost was for the business host program that is set on the phone system which cost almost $300.00 a month," McDonald said when explaining why telephone and internet charges run about $700 monthly.
The approval was recorded as a single motion covering both the March financials and the March 10 minutes. No formal dissent was recorded.
The council proceeded to other agenda items after the vote.
