Board flags pool fencing and property cleanups; notices issued with 10-day compliance windows

At the July 13 meeting Police Chief Coonce updated trustees on nuisance enforcement actions in the village, reporting notices issued where properties did not meet ordinance standards.
Chief Coonce listed three recent notices: a pool on Longfellow that lacked the required fence (notice given with 10 days to comply), a cleanup notice issued for a property at 40 Munger (10-day compliance window), and a notice sent for an Eugene Field Road property identified as owned by BC Hardscapes.
Chairman Bradich later clarified pool fencing requirements during trustees’ remarks: a pool fence may enclose just the pool area, must be at least four feet tall and include a locking gate, and the ordinance officer will inspect a drained pool that is now collecting water for potential mosquito and nuisance issues.
The board did not take additional formal action at the meeting beyond directing inspectors to follow up on compliance timelines and potential citations.
