The Board of Mayor and Aldermen adopted the 2026-2027 City Budget and Tax Rate Ordinance (Ordinance #586) on June 11, 2026, keeping the tax rate at $0.6859 per $100 of assessed value.
Mayor Terry F. Bell opened and closed the required public hearing with no public comment. Recorder Jim E. Garland told the board the ordinance was the same as the measure that passed first reading at the prior meeting. Alderman Donna Butler moved to approve Ordinance #586 on final reading; the roll call recorded ayes from Mark A. Barber, Donna Butler, Buel Maness and Keith Smith, with Michael Phelps and Jason Rhodes absent. Mayor Bell declared the ordinance approved on final reading.
