Douglas County honors two late treasurer's office employees and recognizes long-serving staff

Douglas County commissioners opened the Aug. 11 meeting with a remembrance of two longtime treasurer’s office employees and recognition of staff who have served 20 years.
County manager asked the board to "plant a flag" to remember Pat Neaf, the deputy treasurer who joined the county in 1998 and who died three years earlier of cancer, and Tanya Burnside, a treasurer’s office employee who was murdered a year ago. Treasurer Gill described how staff and the office responded to the losses and praised colleagues who stepped up during difficult months. Commissioners offered thanks and condolences.
The county also recognized two employees, Katie and Dan, who began county service 20 years ago. Both spoke of the privilege of public service and commissioners highlighted their contributions across projects including water and land-use efforts. The board observed a round of applause to honor the late employees and to recognize continuing staff service.
