The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday supplementing the county's 2026 budget by $11,756,809 to recognize new revenues, carry forward unspent grants and appropriate spending authority for 2026 initiatives.
"Total amount of the request for your consideration is $11,756,809," Brandy Ridgeway, a budget analyst, told the board during her presentation. She said the supplemental affects seven funds and that fund summaries and detailed requests were included in the board packet. "With today's supplemental approval, the new amended budget for Douglas County will be $768,732,172," Ridgeway said.
The presentation cited a statutory provision governing revised appropriations; the transcript records the citation in imprecise wording. Commissioners asked no substantive questions and there was no public comment. Commissioner (speaker 3) moved to approve the supplemental; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Board members said they review budget supplements multiple times each year and thanked the budget office for the materials. The supplemental allows the county to accept newly received revenues and move unspent grant dollars into the current fiscal year for use on 2026 initiatives.
