Commissioner Snow said Washington County's visitor economy draws about 10,000,000 annual visitors and generates revenue the county uses for recreation, trails and other amenities. "That impact of the visitor economy, while sometimes we like to complain about it, lowers on average every Washington County home, your property tax bill by $1,500 a year," Snow said.
Snow also described economic-development partnerships — the Southern Utah Economic Alliance (regional) and the county's Washington County Economic Development Office led by Darren Prince — and said those efforts supported more than 1,500 projected jobs during the year. He said the Saint George Airport is expanding with county, city and state contributions to increase destinations beyond the current five.
