Lakeway council authorizes staff to form CIP subcommittee, nominates three members for resolution

Councilmember Sherman presented a proposal to create a capital improvement plan subfund and recommended a three‑member subcommittee to work with staff and department directors to identify projects and funding levels ahead of the budget cycle.
"The goal here is that we'd create a subcommittee, which was the recommendation, and I agree with the, city manager, Melisse, of 3 council members, and we'd work with a team from the staff," Sherman said. Councilmembers debated whether the CIP would require new taxes; Sherman and other supporters said it was intended to lessen tax impacts over time by planning in advance. Councilmember Fortin moved to create the subcommittee; the motion was seconded and council instructed staff to prepare a resolution listing Councilmember Sherman, Councilmember O'Brien and the mayor as the subcommittee members and place that resolution on the next regular meeting consent agenda.
