Crescent City greenfield school set to open in fall 2026, district says

Putnam County School District Superintendent Rick Searcy said the Crescent City greenfield school, paid for with bond referendum money, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026. "That school will be opening the fall of 26," Searcy said.
James Marini, project executive for Ajax Building Company, described the site as roughly 40 acres on Union Avenue designed to provide about 1,100 student stations. "It's, it's I believe it's 1,100 student stations," Marini said, and he said the firm has hired locally for the build and involved students in a groundbreaking event.
Marini said the project is in punch‑list stages — finishing paint touchups and last corrections — ahead of turnover to the district for occupancy. He noted community benefits beyond classrooms, including a detached gym and covered play areas the neighborhood may use after hours. The project team emphasized that the site layout and larger footprint allow room for bus loops, parking and recreation space that smaller infill sites often lack.
The district characterized the project as a community asset and said it would share visual layouts with the public so residents can see how the campus will function for student arrival, dismissal and after‑hours community use.
