Residents and councilors debated where a sign recognizing McHenry women's wrestling should be placed after a resident expressed that its current location conflicted with a flag display.
"I think the sign placement where it's at is completely disrespectful," said Sean during public comment, calling for removal or repositioning. Other council members and residents said they had discussed potential locations and expected the group placing the sign to return with a placement proposal for council approval.
Council members agreed options include locating the sign on campus or at a town entrance so it would not conflict with existing commemorative displays. One councilor said Matt would remove the sign and reinstall it properly once the council decides placement.
The council did not take formal action beyond directing follow-up coordination on removal and reinstallation plans.
