Council discussed the possibility of using Old Mill Village property for Town-sponsored events should annexation talks succeed; members said future agreements might allow reduced rates for Town use. Mayor Aaron Ash also reported continuing conversations with the owner of the vacant former gas station on Asheville Highway and said several individuals have expressed interest in opening a restaurant at the location, a priority for adding dining and commercial opportunities to town limits.
Members also discussed planning a Business Expo, tentatively scheduled for September 2026, to build on the town's recent 250th celebration and to expand participation by churches and community organizations. Council suggested distributing a local recovery-program information sheet through churches and community leaders and acknowledged the 250th celebration's role in strengthening volunteer and business partnerships.
