Officials: Lake Julian docks temporarily repaired; Duke Energy reviewing dam ports

Kevin Conercode and other staff described the microburst at Lake Julian that felled roughly "a 100 something trees" and said the Army Corps contractor had cleared parts of the lake's damaged shoreline and docks. Staff said temporary dock repairs allow some use while longer repairs, insurance and FEMA assistance are pursued.
Conercode added that the dam on Lake Julian is owned by Duke Energy and that its flat ports, designed to break in heavy rain to protect the dam, had failed during the storm and the lake level dropped; he said Duke Energy was "investigating if they're gonna replace the platform or not" and that county staff were in discussions about permitting and potential repairs.
