Campobello pursues sidewalk and crosswalk near Hybrid HyperSport; SCDOT traffic study planned

Council discussed a proposed sidewalk and crosswalk near Hybrid HyperSport intended to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety for employees who walk to the Post Office. Police Chief Chad McNeill said "efforts are underway to obtain construction estimates for the project" and that quotes may be available for Council review at the next regular meeting, with the goal of funding the improvement through the current fiscal year.

Separately, Council reviewed an SCDOT traffic study scheduled for September at the Highway 176 and 357 intersection to capture traffic patterns after school resumes. Council members raised concerns that a flashing caution light alone may not address safety issues and noted sight-distance limitations and seasonal sun-glare problems at the intersection; SCDOT has indicated a commitment to implement an improvement, though the specific solution is not yet determined.
