Planning board shortens wastewater deadline for temporary units to three months

"The RV problem is waste," William Labelle, a River Fire District-area resident, told the board during public comment, urging stricter timelines and better enforcement. Planning staff had proposed time-limited allowances for travel trailers but said they checked with Environmental Health and the City of Asheville; staff initially recommended up to six months for wastewater connection but were open to board direction.
After discussion, a board member moved to change the draft to require connection to wastewater within three months of placement or, alternatively, require documentation of a contract for professional waste removal for the duration of the permit. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
