Parks staff told the advisory board they received an ADA playground grant worth $500,000 to fund new playgrounds and related phase‑2 elements for the Inka destination project, including a pavilion and remodeled concession/bathroom/ranger station. "We got 500,000, for the playgrounds," said Justin Beechman, the project manager who presented the funding and described how the award will be folded into other capital components.
Staff also reported that a sports park bathroom completed construction but remains closed pending certificate‑of‑occupancy and final water hookup; that work was reimbursable under a reported $750,000 TDA grant. Beechman said a separate contract for new turf fields is ready and expected to go before the Board of County Commissioners for final approval next week.
