Commissioners form ad hoc short-term rental committee; planning board to send two representatives

At the start of the meeting staff announced that Buncombe County commissioners have passed a resolution forming an ad hoc committee to study short-term rental regulations. Nathan Pennington said commissioners will interview 15 applicants and the final committee will likely include between seven and 11 members; planning board representatives named to the committee are Ken and Nancy.
Pennington said the committee is intended to take the planning-board and staff's prior work as a starting point, break the issues into parts and seek a compromise; the group has a sunset deadline of roughly the end of the year (the resolution lists Nov. 30). He said staff will provide the list of applicants and interview schedules to the planning board.
