County staff requested and the council approved submitting a Community Crossings matching grant for County Bridge Number 5, a legacy design project with a current estimated cost of $691,004.88.
Presenter Nate (S2) said the design is complete and that, based on the state's allocation formula, the county could receive up to $552,810.30 in matching funds; the county’s match would be about $130,202 and is included in the presenter’s budget request. "The current budget for that project is $691,004.88," S2 said. The council moved, seconded and approved authorizing the grant submission and directed staff to include the application materials in the commissioners' meeting packet.
Why it matters: If awarded, the grant would cover a majority of the project cost and allow the county to complete a long-planned bridge project without full local financing. The council noted that final appropriation still depends on budget approval and commissioners' concurrence.
