Lavaca County EMS to receive $100,000 donation; county approves cheaper remount bid for ambulances

The commissioners voted Aug. 10 to accept a $100,000 donation from the MG and Lily A. Johnson Foundation to the county EMS, which Chief Decker said will be used toward remounting engines or purchasing a new vehicle. Decker thanked the foundation and the chief who prepared the grant application.
Separately, the court reviewed bids for remounting and refurbishing an EMS ambulance and accepted a single bid from Paramedic Built Emergency Vehicles (Harlingen) for $116,650 — a price Chief Decker said is roughly half the normal remount cost of about $215,000. The court approved awarding the contract and instructed EMS to proceed with the remounting work.
