Clerk/Treasurer DePew explained changes to the lodging tax request review and allocation process for 2027 and asked councilmembers for suggestions on the Lodging Tax Funds application form. Council reviewed Sales & Lodging Tax, Building Permits, Jail Statistics and Visitor Information Center statistics as part of the 2nd quarter reports.
Councilmember Pearson asked whether the city would hold an informational event about applying for lodging tax funds; Clerk/Treasurer DePew said she did not think such an event would be helpful and the minutes record discussion but no decision to hold a workshop. The minutes do not specify changes to the application text or application deadlines; staff will incorporate feedback into the budget calendar and application materials.
Staff signaled that lodging tax allocations will follow the updated budget calendar in 2027 and solicited suggestions from council for clarifying application guidance.
