Superintendent Shawn Durbin told the council a grant opportunity exists to purchase a vac trailer estimated to cost between $112,000 and $130,000. Durbin said the trailer could vacuum meter pits at the trailer park and other meter pits, clear storm sewers, clean valve bodies and help with main breaks and sewer lines; owning the equipment would save on backhoe hours and reduce damage to yards and alleys.
Durbin noted that currently "25 – 30 communities" around Neoga have a vac trailer, and the city would use the equipment for multiple maintenance tasks if the grant is secured. The council heard the presentation but did not record a decision to apply during the meeting.
