Kasey Wickiser, owner of Hula Ice, told the Neoga City Council during public comment that she is still waiting for a solicitors’ permit to open her trailer downtown and that Ameren quoted $3,235 to move an electrical pole after the city asked her to relocate from the Chestnut parking lot. She said the utility quote took her two weeks to obtain and that the pole move could take an additional two to four weeks.
Commissioner Williams said the city should cover the cost because it requested the relocation and raised concerns about downtown parking and children's safety. The council discussed alternative locations; Wickiser said she was not enthusiastic about the spots suggested. Businessman Mel Workman offered the use of a parking spot in his bowling-alley lot “for the remainder of the year or until she can figure out a new location.” The council did not adopt a formal directive to pay the relocation cost; the temporary private arrangement was noted.
