UN warns of mounting humanitarian needs in Gaza and widespread explosive hazards

Farhan said the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned that ongoing military operations in Gaza increase the risk to civilians and the need for humanitarian assistance. "Their efforts have supported the removal of debris, access to critical infrastructure, and the restoration of water and sanitation facilities," he said, while adding that "a broader range of essential supplies and specialized equipment must be allowed into Gaza to expand these life saving services."
He also said that partners working on explosive hazards had identified and marked "more than 1,000 items of explosive ordinance across the strip" since October 2023 and that risk-education sessions reached approximately 63,000 people in the past month; UN partners called for unrestricted delivery of specialized equipment and supplies to broaden life-saving services.
