Farhan, a United Nations staff member who opened the briefing, said an evening session will be held by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations following an Arria-formula Security Council meeting focused on Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian detainees. "This evening at 4PM, there will be a briefing here by the permanent mission of of Ukraine to the United Nations following the ARIA formula meeting of the Security Council on the situation of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian detainees," he said.
Farhan also noted that Assistant Secretary‑General for Human Rights Claudio Fuentes Willio had briefed Council members earlier on implementation of international humanitarian law in the context of the war and that the UN and partners continue to monitor detention and treatment issues raised in those briefings. The announcement signals continued diplomatic and humanitarian attention to detainee issues and indicates additional public reporting from Ukraine’s mission was expected at the evening meeting.
