Skyler and the city's engineer provided an update on the 11th Street garage and residential tower construction. Site work including underground utilities, aggregate base and concrete curb/gutter are in progress; staff said patios and some exterior elements are being installed and that the contractor planned to place the first asphalt layer soon, weather permitting.
"I think we're still targeted opening, September, October, people moving in," Skyler said, noting finishing work and restoration would follow paving and signage. Engineer Ryan Laughlin described the near-term schedule for Ameriplex Drive work—stone base completion, curb and sidewalk concrete and first lift of asphalt—and said the contractor may wrap up the bulk of construction by the end of next week if weather cooperates.
Commissioners expressed optimism about downtown momentum and said additional retail and amenities would help new residents. Staff will continue to provide construction updates and coordinate final inspections and punchlist completion.
