Public works: Christmas lights up, Van Buren restripe quoted at $2,168; work deferred until spring

Superintendent of Public Works Chris Remick told trustees that most of the village’s Christmas lights are in place but that some light poles have issues; Mayor Behnken asked whether Ameren had been contacted and Remick said he would contact the utility the next day. Remick said Spotsylvania Street is nearly complete but still needs painting and striping.
Remick said he received a quote of $2,168.00 to have Van Buren Street restriped but that the board decided to wait until spring before undertaking that work. He also referenced discussions about selling parts of the old Riverhouse and noted uncertainty about whether smoke damage makes the old Riverhouse salvageable.
