New Athens police to receive grants for vests and expand taser training; Oct. 28 executive-session follow-up planned

Chief Tim Buehler submitted the department activity log and reported training and equipment updates. The police department will receive a grant to purchase three bulletproof vests and a separate grant for a new level of tasers. Officer Jason Berry will be the trainer for the taser program and will attend a certification course.
Buehler asked that the board add an item to the Oct. 28 Committee of the Whole agenda; Buehler and Sgt. Renner will attend along with a representative from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department to discuss the matter in executive session. The minutes indicate the board acknowledged the item and that the Oct. 28 discussion will be held in executive session.
